Those of us in the energy industry are eagerly watching an exciting transformation unfold. The world is rapidly changing, and technology is continually driving change for utilities and for the everyday lives of energy consumers. Digitization of the energy sector via smart meters and disaggregation has unlocked a wealth of data. In fact, Accenture recently found that the vast majority of business managers are more likely to experiment with new energy products or services at their place of work than at their home.
It will be the responsibility of the utility in this new energy landscape to transform the data collected and break it down into understandable and actionable insights for customers, and create a new energy experience allowing customers to make better decisions an optimize their energy usage.
